Development vs efficiency of Polish farms - trade-off or synergy effects?

he article aims to determine the nature of relationship between farm development and its technical efficiency understood from perspective data envelopment analysis (DEA). The time scope refers period 2004-2019. empirical part is based on individual unpublished for Polish farms conducting agricultural accounting according Farm Accountancy Data Network (FADN). We employed a super-efficiency slack-based DEA model with variable returns scale. This enables us compare rank efficient as well investigate sources (in)efficiency. did not identify substitution (trade-off) effect farms` sustainability efficiency. For level these differences were statistically significant. main policy recommendation that can be derived results should support both improvements progress toward higher sustainability.
